All The Highlights From Collarts Online O-Week

May 26, 2020

For the very first time, Collarts celebrated O-Week completely online! With new students participating from all across Australia, the week was a huge success in bringing the community together ahead of classes for Trimester 2. Reflecting on connectivity and online study, here's our favourite moments across Zoom, Facebook, and Instagram.

NEW STUDENTS BREAKING THE ICE, ZOOM STYLE

With multiple Zoom chats across three days, new students attending online O-Week had plenty of chances to break the ice. Getting to know each other in a relaxed setting, our private Zoom calls had students working together through friendly games; dipping between breakout rooms for one-on-one interaction. From iso bingo to weird group facts, each session was as informative as it was fun.

ALL OUR EXCITING LIVE PERFORMANCES

In true Collarts spirit, each O-Week day was full of live performances and Q&A's from both students and expert staff. Featuring a stacked lineup from Music Performance, Music Production, and Comedy, new students and the general public were treated to performances by the likes of Ainslie Wills (Music Performance), Kittling (Music Production), Witch_Blade (Music Production), Jett Bond (Comedy), Aiden Willcox (Comedy), DJ Soulogician (Music Production), and more!

INSIGHTS INTO DESIGN, SUSTAINABLE FASHION & WELLNESS

Bringing attention to design and sustainable practices, there were many activities during O-Week that explored Interior Design, Fashion & Sustainability, Digital & Social Media, and more. Looking at the intersections between spaces, objects, and mental health, each session explored ways of making the most of what you have and using it to better your wellness. From a body movement routine with dancer Keely Wins, to building a sneaker campaign with Todd Watts and Paul Meeuwsen, each session welcomed wholesome discussion from start to finish.

A BIG FOCUS ON COMMUNITY

Welcoming students into the Collarts community is an honour we take super seriously, and online O-Week was no exception! After sending new students their very own care package (featuring Collarts goodies, tea, vouchers and more), our dedicated staff from our Future Student Team helped students in every way possible. Online O-Week was a reminder that community is at the heart of what we do—and we can't wait to see ours continue to grow in 2020 and beyond!
