Collarts Announces Move To New Collingwood Warehouse Campus

May 28, 2018

Collarts is thrilled to announce that in September, our brand new premises at 208 Wellington Street, Collingwood will open. Marking a new chapter in history for Collarts, the college will move further into the Fitzroy and Collingwood area, diving into the heart of Melbourne's vibrant arts community.

Sharing the news with students this morning, Ben O'Hara, the Dean of Collarts, was elated at its potential to inspire students. "The creative spirit of these suburbs is the perfect place for Collarts and our students. To some extent, we’re already there, with existing campuses in Collingwood and Fitzroy, but by the end of 2018 the relocation will be complete."

O'Hara continued. "The architecturally-designed warehouse campus will be twice the size of our South Melbourne campus, and will feature state-of-the-art facilities including all-new studios, a critical listening room, three computer labs, more student break out areas, more classrooms, a large auditorium and a professional theatrette for lectures and film screenings."

Where activity has taken place at Brady Street, South Melbourne, classes will soon transfer to the new campus. Programs that run out of other campuses at 55 Swanston Street in the CBD, 209 Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, and 69 Cromwell Street in Collingwood will be largely unaffected.

As O'Hara notes, "In addition to being within walking distance of our Cromwell St and Brunswick St campuses, it will also offer better access to public transport, closer proximity to cafes, pubs, restaurants, gyms and live music venues, and better opportunities for rental accommodation and share housing."

We're looking forward to the move and are excited to share its progression with both students and the public through our social channels. Sign-up to our Newsletter here for our latest updates and check out what courses we offer here. Applications are now open for 2018 and 2019!
